How to play VELD
From the link to your first match in under a minute. Here are the controls, the classes and a few tips to win your first fights.
Start a match
- Open playveld.com in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
- Choose Play, then Solo for a match against bots or Multiplayer to join or host a lobby.
- Pick a mode, a map and a class, and deploy.

Every key can be changed in Options. Controllers work out of the box, phones and tablets get touch controls, and Steam Deck has its own installer.
Classes
Four preset classes are ready from the start:
- Assault (M4A1, M9, two frag grenades): The all rounder, at ease at every range.
- Cleaner (Wasp, M9, two flashbangs): Speed and rate of fire for close quarters.
- Sniper (L96A1, M9, two smoke grenades): One torso hit is enough. Hold your breath to steady the scope.
- Breacher (M1014, M9, two frag grenades): Devastating indoors, harmless beyond twenty meters.
Custom classes unlock at player levels 3, 6, 10, 15 and 20. Build them with any weapon, attachments and three killstreaks.
Tips for your first matches
- Start against Recruit bots, then move up to Regular and Veteran.
- Lean around corners with Z and X instead of stepping out.
- Slide into cover. Sprint, then crouch.
- Hold Shift while scoped with a sniper rifle to steady your aim.
- Cook frag grenades by holding G so they go off on arrival.
- Play the objective in Domination. Points win matches, not kills.
